COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear runners,
The date of the Lachine Bonneville Half-Marathon approaching fast, we wish to inform all Pointe-Claire participants who planned on running in Lachine this year exceptionally. This announcement hopes to answer all interrogations concerning the impact of COVID-19 on the event scheduled for October 11, 2020.
We keep ourselves informed daily with the Fédération québécoise d’athlétimse and the Public Health department in order to follow their directives applicable to major outdoor events.
According to the directives issued in the upcoming weeks, our team will determine if we think we can respect such organisational and sanitary measures without jeopardizing your security.
Given the size of the event, some directives are currently problematic (multiple small start waves, limit of 250 spectators on site and creation of several protection zones for the runners). However, other measures seem to be manageable with your collaboration (wearing face masks in certain zones, disinfection stations, self-served water stations and respect of the 2 meters social distancing).
Considering the fear of a second wave this Fall, as organizers, we have to make a responsible decision in order to ensure not only the security of our runners, but of everyone who will be in contact with the participants in the following hours and days.
If we consider that it is impossible for us to ensure the security of all, we will unfortunately be forced to cancel the 2020 edition of the Lachine Bonneville Half-Marathon. The final decision concerning (go or no go) will be taken on September 15th at the latest. You will be informed by email, on our website and on our Facebook page.
In case of cancelation, here is what will happen:
